Supporting Students from Developing Countries with Scholarships and Internships

A recent anonymous gift of $200,000 to the Earth Institute will provide financial support for students from developing countries. The gift will fund two scholarships for students in our MA in Climate and Society and MPA in Environmental Science and Policy programs, and will also provide funding for summer internships.

This vital support of students from developing countries in our MA in Climate and Society and MPA in Environmental Science and Policy programs, in addition to funding field-based internships, will allow them to make crucial links between climate and society, and apply their passion for environmental studies to the exciting potential for policy to convert scientific understanding into tangible action.

The anonymous donor is helping the Earth Institute prepare the next generation of climate and environmental science leaders, and we are grateful for their support and vision.

AGU25, the premier Earth and space science conference, takes place December 15-19, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. This year’s theme—Where Science Connects Us—puts in focus how science depends on connection, from the lab to the field to the ballot box. Once again, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and Columbia Climate School scientists, experts, students, and educators are playing an active role, sharing our research and helping shape the future of our planet. #AGU25 Learn More

Hi Sir,

I have a few questions about studying in the Columbia university. Before asking, I d love to introduce myself, first. I am from Myanmar. I am graduated in BA. Now I am interested in studying in the Master in Environment. I have objectives to study not only for my country but also for the earth to protect from Global warming. Actually, my country is needed and so i love to help out her again. If you have any internships or scholarships program, please let me know. you can send it to my email which i described above. Thank you.
