Job description: The position of Donor Communications and Research Intern will support the Funding Initiatives team’s long term objectives of identifying new prospective donors, cultivating current donor relationships and supporting stewardship activities. Tasks include, but are not limited to, donor research: compiling research briefs on new donors; conducting prospect research for potential corporate and foundation donors; database maintenance: updating mailing information of donors; maintaining records of donor contact; mailing support: support Development Associates in preparing mass mailings, as well as ad hoc mailings; communications and writing: research and draft blogs and other webpage content in support of donor relations communications efforts.
Skills required: The ideal candidate is pursuing undergraduate or post-graduate studies in related fields to the Earth Institute’s mission or has an interest in Earth Institute activities. The ideal candidate also possesses strong research, writing, editing and proofreading skills, and the ability to organize information for effective presentations. Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision is essential. Interest and experience in fundraising a plus. Knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel and comfort with database software is essential.
Internship details: We are looking for an intern to join us for the remainder of summer 2015 into the fall, with potential to extend (dependent on performance in position). Candidates will be expected to work 10-15 hours per week during the semester and will be compensated $15 per hour.
