The Office of the Executive Director at the Earth Institute is seeking an intern to provide administrative and research support. Intern’s tasks include administrative work such as phone and desk coverage, running errands, photocopying and data entry. The intern will also support the Executive Director’s staff in research for reports, book chapters, articles, case studies and presentations, and editing as needed. The intern will assist with social media efforts – especially twitter. The intern will also support the Executive Director’s initiatives, which may include: providing support for the planning and execution of events, meetings, conferences, seminars, and special programs.
The position requires excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining organized and precise in order to provide high-level administrative and research support. The candidate must be able to multitask, work independently, and be discrete with confidential information. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Social media skills are a plus. Applicants should be highly motivated, professional and detail-oriented. A strong interest in the environment and sustainability is preferred, but not required. Common research topics include renewable energy, energy efficiency, urban sustainability policy and management, U.S. environmental policy, and sustainability metrics.
Details
Candidate should be able to work 20-35 hours per week and will be compensated $15 per hour. Extended duration beyond the summer is dependent on performance in the position.
