A circular economy is an economic system designed to eliminate waste and promote the continual use of resources. Unlike the traditional “take, make, dispose” model, a circular economy emphasizes recycling, reusing, and repairing products to extend their lifecycle. This approach reduces the strain on natural resources, lowers emissions and minimizes environmental impacts. Key strategies include designing products for durability, improving waste management and encouraging sustainable consumption. Research in the circular economy focuses on innovative materials, business models and policy frameworks that support the transition to a more sustainable, resource-efficient world.
