The Earth Institute is seeking an intern to work with our sustainability programs, both graduate and undergraduate. The intern will divide their time between program administration for the Undergraduate Program in Sustainable Development and outreach and marketing for the Earth Institute’s graduate programs. Support may also be sought for the Earth Institute’s professional development and alumni
activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in communications, event coordination, and working in a highly professional environment on a diverse range of projects.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to: updating and generating web content, contributing to social media strategy, event planning and staffing, drafting and editing articles/profiles, updating program materials, managing large contact databases and cold-calling for outreach for specific programs.
Skills Required:
- Applicants should be highly motivated, detail oriented and possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with social media, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and MailChimp, as well as MS Office tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required
- The ideal candidate will be personable, pro-active and able to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining organized and precise
- A strong interest in the environment and sustainable development is preferred, but not required
Type of Student Desired:
Graduate or undergraduate students. Students who are enrolled in or plan to
declare the Sustainable Development major/special concentration OR students enrolled in the sustainability graduate programs are not eligible to apply.
Compensation:
$18/hour, 10-15 hours/week. Position to start in early February.
