Prof. Cohen Discusses Sustainability and Cities, Government, and Sustainable Lifestyles

Created in 2002 and endowed in 2008, the Columbia Alliance program is an innovative academic joint-venture between Columbia University and three major French Higher Education Institutions: École Polytechnique, Sciences Po, and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. The program recently caught up with Professor Steve Cohen, who holds distinguished academic roles at the Columbia School of International and Public Affairs and the Columbia School of Professional Studies, and leads the Research Program on Sustainability Policy and Management at the Earth Institute. He is also the program director for two renowned graduate programs, the M.S. in Sustainability Management and the M.P.A. in Environmental Science and Policy.

AGU25, the premier Earth and space science conference, takes place December 15-19, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. This year’s theme—Where Science Connects Us—puts in focus how science depends on connection, from the lab to the field to the ballot box. Once again, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and Columbia Climate School scientists, experts, students, and educators are playing an active role, sharing our research and helping shape the future of our planet. #AGU25 Learn More
