Summer 2012 SEE-U Study Abroad Experience

by Victoria Tarasova

Apply now for the next rolling admissions deadline for CERC’s Summer Ecosystem Experiences for Undergraduates (SEE-U) study abroad program by March 20th. Join us to study ecology abroad and gain experience conducting fieldwork while earning 6 transferable credits and living abroad for five weeks. Our field sites are:

Brazil: The Atlantic Forest, Sao Paulo

The Dominican Republic: Punta Cana

Puerto Rico: El Yunque National Forest

Jordan: Amman, Aqaba, Dana, and Wadi Mujib

The SEE-U program provides undergraduate students of all majors from all accredited colleges or universities with a global understanding of ecology and environmental sustainability. It provides students with the opportunity to conduct fieldwork in unique natural settings in addition to participation in a combination of classroom lectures and lab work.

Students receive weekly schedules that include fieldwork, lab experiments, lectures and reading assignments. Daily activities  revolve around morning lectures and afternoon fieldwork six days a week. No pre-requisites are required to enroll and previous knowledge of topics is not necessary.

Fellowship funding is available to finance expenses. To apply for a fellowship of up to $3000, simply fill out that portion of the application.

For more information about SEE-U programs, visit our website or contact CERC directly at cerc@columbia.edu or 212-854-0149.

AGU25, the premier Earth and space science conference, takes place December 15-19, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. This year’s theme—Where Science Connects Us—puts in focus how science depends on connection, from the lab to the field to the ballot box. Once again, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and Columbia Climate School scientists, experts, students, and educators are playing an active role, sharing our research and helping shape the future of our planet. #AGU25 Learn More
