symposium poster

As we enter this new decade, we are rapidly approaching the deadlines we have set to protect our planet from the worst impacts of climate change. The participation of large and small businesses is critical to create sweeping change.

The Sustainability Management Student Association is proud to announce the 9th Annual Sustainable Perspective Symposium, which will bring together representatives from the world’s most powerful industries to discuss the role of business in addressing today’s pressing sustainability challenges. The symposium, Climate Leadership: Disrupting Business As Usual, will take place on Friday, March 6th, at the Joseph D. Jamail Lecture Hall in Columbia’s Journalism School.

The event is free, and open to Columbia University students, faculty, and staff, as well as the general public. Seats are limited, so reserve your spot today.

Today, climate change has impacted, and continues to impact, every industry in various and ever-changing ways. To address these issues, sustainability leaders representing financial institutions, consumer goods corporations, renewable energy companies, urban planning and real estate firms, fashion houses, tech innovators, waste management enterprises, and more, will come together and discuss how they are driving their organizations toward our climate goals.

The symposium will begin with opening remarks by Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies’ Senior Vice Dean, Steven Cohen. This will be followed by panels and fireside chats tackling opportunities and challenges related to corporate sustainability, sustainable finance, zero-waste initiatives, and the big energy transition.

Participating organizations include JPMorgan & Chase Co., JetBlue, Estée Lauder Companies, Mara Hoffman, Simon Property Group, the UN Global Compact, TerraCycle (Loop), Arup, Cisco, Terraform, Lockheed Martin, Plankton Energy LLC, State Street Global Advisors, BNP Paribas, Acumen, Energy Impact Partners, Forbes, FCLTGlobal, and the Columbia Business School.
